Trick 1: Quickly Open Spotlight
What do you do when you have to find something on the Mac? You will open the Spotlight and insert your query. That’s right! Do you know you can open the Spotlight right away with only a couple of keystrokes?
Yes, whenever you have to search for something, hit Command+ Space. It will open Spotlight on the menu bar.
Trick 2: Make Custom App Stacks on the Dock
You may be an intense computer user who fiddles with too many applications. For the same reason, including every app you use on the dock may not be possible.
How can you overcome it? Well, you can follow the steps given below.
- Step 1: Create a new folder anywhere and open it.
- Step 2: Open the Applications folder on another Finder window.
- Step 3: You have to hold down Command and Option. Then, drag every app you want to see in the dock.
- Step 4: Finally, drag the folder to the dock. There you go!
Trick 3: Drag and Drop a File into the App on the Dock to Open using it
You might be confused by the title. Let’s say you want to edit an image. How do you do that? You will open the software, go to File, select Open, and then browse for the image.
What if you can directly do it? All you must do is pinning the app (say Photoshop) on the dock. Once you do that, you just have to drag and drop the file into the app on the dock. The file will be opened in the same.
Trick 4: Take a Screenshot
On Windows, you can take a screenshot by simultaneously pressing Win+ prtscr keys. But it is impossible to choose a specific portion for the screenshot without any dedicated software.
On the contrary, Mac offers this facility for us. Pressing Command+ Shift+ 3 will take the screenshot of the whole screen whereas holding down Command+ Shift+ 4 gives you an option to choose a part on the screen.
Trick 5: Regulate Startup Apps
You don’t need too many apps on the startup itself. Most of the application developers push us to enable the startup activation during the installation itself. Even if you couldn’t turn it off during the installation, a system setting comes to your rescue.
Go to System Preferences>> Users and Groups. You will see two buttons on the top. Click on the second one named Login Items. There, you can deactivate the apps you don’t want on the startup.
